Top judges from all over the nation have questioned the constitutionality of the ruling party’s push to establish a special tribunal concerning last year’s martial law incident and a new criminal offense targeting judges and prosecutors.

Concerns about the introduction of the new crime, perverting the course of justice, and the tribunal to look more deeply into the events of December 3, 2024, emerged during a regular conference on Friday attended by National Court Administration Minister Chun Dae-yup and the court chiefs.

The heads of the courts also asked the public to wait for the courts to decide ongoing cases linked to the December 3 martial law declaration.

The meeting came after the parliamentary Legislation and Judiciary Committee approved the two bills introduced by the ruling Democratic Party.
