The presidential office has begun relocating from Yongsan District to the former presidential compound of Cheong Wa Dae in Jongno District.

The office launched preparations on Monday to move the offices of presidential secretaries to Cheong Wa Dae following the partial relocation of facilities earlier this month, including cafeterias.

The top office's press and briefing rooms are scheduled to relocate between December 20 and 23.

Earlier on Sunday, Presidential chief of Staff Kang Hoon‑sik said during a news conference on the first six months of the Lee Jae Myung administration that the presidential office is preparing to return to the Cheong Wa Dae compound by Christmas Day.

However, the relocation of the presidential residence in Hannam-dong to Cheong Wa Dae is expected to be carried out early next year due to security reasons.
