Oceans Ministry Begins Relocating to Busan

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries began relocating from Sejong City to the southeastern port city of Busan in line with President Lee Jae Myung's campaign pledges.

The ministry is set to begin operations in its tentative new location in Busan on Wednesday and be fully relocated by December 21.

Oceans Minister Chun Jae-soo vowed to complete the relocation safely, without incident.

Approximately 800 of the ministry's regular and contract employees will relocate to Busan.

Earlier, during his campaign, the president had vowed to develop Busan into a global maritime hub in preparation for the era of Arctic shipping routes and promised to relocate the oceans ministry and HMM, the nation's largest shipping company, to Busan.
