The main opposition People Power Party(PPP) has launched a filibuster to block all bills that will be submitted to a plenary session on Tuesday.

Following a general meeting of party lawmakers, PPP floor leader Song Eon-seog told reporters that the meeting's participants had agreed to filibuster every bill scheduled for the session.

However, the party went ahead with a vote on three motions involving government guarantees after concluding they should not be subject to unlimited debate.

The PPP launched the filibuster with the fourth bill presented at Tuesday's plenary, which sought revisions to the Fair Transactions in Franchise Business Act.

Rep. Na Kyung-won, the first to take the floor, said that she supports the bill but had joined the filibuster to oppose the ruling party's “eight harmful bills,” including those that will create special tribunals to handle martial law cases and classify judicial perversion of justice as a criminal offense.
