The Trump administration plans to require foreigners entering the United States under its visa waiver program to provide their social media history from the last five years.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection(CBP) published a notice regarding the proposal in the Federal Register on Wednesday.

The CBP plans to require ESTA applicants to submit their social media histories from the last five years.

The move is in line with an executive order that U.S. President Donald Trump signed on January 20, instructing agencies to enhance vetting of foreign nationals seeking entry into the United States.

CBP also plans to require ESTA applicants to provide their personal and business phone numbers used over the past five years, as well as personal and business email addresses used over the past ten years, wherever possible.

Applicants may additionally be asked to provide biometric data, such as fingerprints, DNA and iris scans.
