President Roh Moo-hyun spent his third day in Moscow Wednesday meeting with Korean and Russian business leaders.
In a luncheon meeting, the president asked them to seek ways to make long-term profits as well as one-off, short-term trade. Roh also spoke of the need to review and enhance the current system under which the two countries promote bilateral economic cooperation.
Some one-hundred business figures from both sides were present at the luncheon, including Samsung Group Chairman Lee Kun-hee, LG Chairman Koo Bon-moo and Hyundai Motor Company Chairman Chung Mong-koo.
Following the luncheon, Roh visited the Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center to inspect the production process of a module for the International Space Station. After touring the space center, Roh expressed anticipation that South Korea-Russia ties would develop into a more constructive and future-oriented relationship backed by close cooperation in the field of space technology.
Roh is slated to wrap up his five-day trip to Kazakhstan and Russia and return home on Thursday night.
Next month, Roh is scheduled to make an official visit to India and Vietnam followed by a trip to Brazil in November.
