The National Museum of Korea has received more than six million visitors this year as of Thursday.

The museum announced that it had reached the milestone at around 2 p.m. Thursday, a new annual record since the museum opened its doors in 1945.

The feat came approximately two months after cumulative visitors surpassed five million.

Museum authorities partially attributed the boom to the global popularity of the Netflix animated film, "KPop Demon Hunters." The film features characters inspired by traditional Korean folklore and accessories, some of which can be found at the museum.

Meanwhile, roughly 13-point-eight million people had visited the National Museum of Korea and its 13 nationwide affiliates as of Wednesday, surpassing the 2025 Korea Baseball Organization regular season attendance count of 12-point-six million.
