Cannes‑winning director Park Chan‑wook’s black comedy “No Other Choice” has been shortlisted for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Tuesday released short lists in 12 categories for the 98th Academy Awards.

Fifteen preliminary contenders were named in the international feature film category, drawn from submissions by 86 countries and regions, including South Korea.

Along with “No Other Choice,” Jafar Panahi’s Palme d’Or‑winning “It Was Just an Accident,” Joachim Trier’s “Sentimental Value” and Kleber Mendonça Filho’s “The Secret Agent” also received nods.

Meanwhile, “Golden,” an original song from Netflix’s animated film “K‑Pop Demon Hunters,” was shortlisted for best original song.

Final nominations will be announced January 22, with the awards ceremony scheduled for March 15.
