North Korean leader Kim Jong‑un has visited a mausoleum to pay respects on the 14th anniversary of the death of his father, Kim Jong‑il.

According to the Korean Central News Agency(KCNA) on Wednesday, Kim made a midnight visit to the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun in Pyongyang, accompanied by senior government and party officials.

The palace houses the bodies of Kim Jong‑il and state founder Kim Il‑sung, the current leader’s grandfather.

Kim Jong‑il died on December 17, 2011, at the age of 70.

KCNA said the visitors pledged loyalty to uphold Kim Jong‑un’s ideology and leadership, praising him for glorifying the patriotic legacy and opening up a new glorious history of comprehensive national rejuvenation.

Except in 2022, Kim Jong‑un has paid tribute to his father at the family mausoleum every year on the death anniversary.
