The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has unveiled a plan to expand concert infrastructure and the global reach of K‑pop.

During a policy briefing to President Lee Jae Myung on Tuesday, Culture Minister Chae Hwi‑young said the government will address a shortage of performance venues through short‑, mid‑ and long‑term plans.

In the short term, the ministry will upgrade sound and lighting at regional sports facilities to host concerts. In the medium term, it plans to complete arena projects in cities such as Seoul and Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, by 2027 or 2028, financed through sports promotion funds.

As a long‑term goal, Chae said the government will pursue the construction of a 50-thousand‑seat dome designed to host both sporting events and large‑scale performances.

The minister also outlined measures to revitalize the struggling film industry and promote K-culture through heritage‑based projects.
