Another case of highly pathogenic avian influenza has been confirmed at a poultry farm in the Chungcheong region.

The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters for Avian Influenza said Friday that the H5N1 strain had detected at a farm that was raising 25-thousand layer hens in Boryeong, South Chungcheong Province.

The latest case brings the number of highly pathogenic bird flu outbreaks at poultry farms nationwide this winter to 15.

Quarantine authorities are inspecting about 30 poultry farms within ten kilometers of the affected sites, along with roughly ten other farms, facilities and vehicles linked to the outbreak.

The organization added that it will inspect all layer farms nationwide by the end of this month and carry out intensive disinfection at migratory bird habitats and poultry farms at least twice a day.
