Staff at the presidential office have formally begun their official duties at the Cheong Wa Dae complex with the reopening of the Chunchugwan media center.

The center reopened Monday, three years and seven months after the Yoon Suk Yeol administration relocated the presidential office to Seoul’s Yongsan District.

President Lee Jae Myung is expected to begin his duties at Cheong Wa Dae around Sunday, after the move from Yongsan is complete.

The presidential office will now use its former name, Cheong Wa Dae.

The offices of the president and his administrative staff will occupy the compound’s main building, and presidential secretaries will use the Yeomingwan buildings.

But Lee intends to spend most of his time at Yeomingwan for enhanced communication with his aides.

The  president’s official residence will not relocate from Seoul’s Hannam neighborhood until renovations to the Cheong Wa Dae compound are complete early next year.
