The National Tax Service(NTS) has launched an investigation targeting Coupang Fulfillment Services, a subsidiary of Coupang that manages the e-commerce giant’s logistics network.

The NTS Seoul Regional Office sent some 150 investigators to the head office of the wholly owned Coupang subsidiary in Seoul’s Songpa District to seize accounting records. 

The tax agency is also said to have sent investigators to the Coupang headquarters after coming across evidence of tax evasion in transactions between the e-commerce giant and its subsidiaries. 

The NTS also plans to check transactions between the U.S.-listed parent company, Coupang Inc., and its subsidiaries as part of their probe.
