South Korea and Poland signed a multi‑trillion‑won deal for Chunmoo guided missiles, a move Seoul’s top presidential aide hailed as another boost for the national defense industry.
Presidential Chief of Staff Kang Hoon‑sik said in a social media post Monday that the contract was signed in Warsaw at a ceremony attended by officials from both governments.
Kang traveled to Poland on Sunday as a presidential envoy for strategic economic cooperation and was scheduled to return home Tuesday afternoon, according to the presidential office.
Kang’s post came after a consortium of Hanwha Aerospace and Hanwha WB Advanced System finalized the agreement with Poland’s Armament Agency.
Under the contract, valued at five‑point‑six trillion won, or three‑point‑nine billion U.S. dollars, Hanwha Aerospace will supply the 80‑kilometer‑range guided missile known as the CGR‑080.
