The second inspection squad of the International Atomic Energy Agency(IAEA) left Seoul Sunday after its week-long probe into Seoul's past nuclear activities.

During their stay in South Korea, the five-member team has conducted sweeping inspections at the Korean Atomic Energy Research Institute in Taejon, south of Seoul and the now-defunct atomic research reactor in Kongnung-dong, northeastern Seoul.

In particular, the team visited a uranium mine in Gwesan, North Chungcheong Province to confirm the veracity of the Seoul government's report on the production of uranium metal.

The UN inspectors are expected to report their findings to the IAEA board meeting in November.

The IAEA inspection team flew into Seoul last Sunday for their second inspection in less than a month into the controversial laboratory activities, which have triggered international suspicions over Seoul's nuclear ambitions.

Seoul has repeatedly stressed the nuke experiments were purely academic and that they had nothing to do with nuclear weapons.
