The U.S. Supreme Court is expected to issue a ruling on Friday on a case challenging the legality of President Donald Trump’s global tariffs.

According to Reuters, the court indicated on its website Tuesday that it may release decisions in argued cases when the justices take the bench for a scheduled sitting on Friday. The court does not announce in advance which rulings it intends to issue.

Reuters noted that among the cases currently before the court, one possibility is a decision on the legality of reciprocal tariffs.

The court has been reviewing whether Trump lawfully invoked the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, a 1977 law meant for use during national emergencies, to impose the tariffs.

U.S. federal courts have previously ruled against the tariffs at both the lower and appellate levels.
