President Lee Jae Myung and first lady Kim Hea Kyung attended a ceremony on Wednesday marking the centennial of the establishment of the Korean Provisional Government in Shanghai.

Ahead of the ceremony, Lee wrote in the guestbook that the site is where Korea began and vowed to protect the nation. 

At the ceremony, Lee said the fierce struggle of Chinese and South Koreans for independence and liberation will forever remain the historical foundation of a bond and solidarity between the two nations.
