Seoul Metropolitan Council member Kim Kyung, who recently admitted giving money to a lawmaker ahead of the 2022 local elections, is set to return to South Korea.

Kim had originally been scheduled to return from the United States on Monday morning but changed her plans and is now expected to arrive at Incheon International Airport on Sunday afternoon, though her exact flight details were not disclosed.

Her return comes 11 days after she left the country following the launch of a full-scale police investigation into the alleged bribery.

Police said they plan to impose a travel ban and question her immediately upon arrival.

Kim traveled to the United States on December 31, saying she was visiting her children, just as the police investigation was beginning in earnest.

She was spotted in Las Vegas last Tuesday attending the CES electronics trade fair.
