President Lee Jae Myung will hold a summit with visiting Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Monday.

The top office said the two leaders are set to discuss trade, investment, artificial intelligence, space, defense, semiconductors, education, culture and people-to-people exchange. 

Lee is set to request that attention be paid to the South Korean athletes competing in the 2026 Winter Olympics, which will kick off next month. 

The two leaders are set to jointly announce the results of their summit to the press after signing memorandaums of understanding. The joint announcement will be aired live. 

Monday marks the second summit between Lee and Meloni since they first met last September in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

Meloni is the first European leader to visit South Korea since the current government took office.
