The leaders of South Korea and Italy have agreed to strengthen industrial cooperation on artificial intelligence.

President Lee Jae Myung and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni held talks in Seoul on Monday.

In a joint press statement after the bilateral talks, Lee and Meloni said they stressed the importance of strengthening industrial cooperation in key sectors, such as artificial intelligence, aerospace, semiconductors and critical raw materials, as well as fostering partnerships between public institutions and private companies.

The two sides also said they concurred on the need to intensify joint efforts to develop resilient, reliable critical mineral supply chains.

On the same day, South Korea and Italy signed three memorandums of understanding, including agreements on private sector cooperation in the semiconductor industry.
