Consumer sentiment rebounded in January following the release of the government’s 2026 economic policy direction and continued gains in the stock market.

According to the Bank of Korea’s Consumer Tendency Survey, released Friday, the composite consumer sentiment index rose one point from December to 110-point-eight in January.

A reading above 100 indicates that optimists outnumber pessimists.

The rebound follows a sharp drop of two-and-a-half points in December.

A BOK official attributed the uptick to economic policy and robust exports.

The index measuring consumers’ economic outlook for the next six months rose two points to 98, and the index assessing current economic conditions increased one point from the previous month to 90.
