South Korea's coffee imports jumped by nearly 800 billion won last year, surpassing two trillion won for the first time amid soaring global coffee prices.

The Korea Agro-Fisheries and Food Trade Corporation said Sunday that the country's coffee imports totaled a record one-point-86 billion dollars in 2025, up 35 percent from a year earlier.

In won terms, imports reached two-point-65 trillion won, a 41 percent year‑on‑year increase, with the sharper rise attributed to the weaker currency.

In contrast, the volume of coffee imports slipped slightly to 215-thousand-792 tons, down 46 tons from the previous year.

The surge in import value despite flat volumes was driven by a spike in international coffee bean prices, which hit record highs last year.
