International gold prices have reportedly surpassed five-thousand dollars per ounce for the first time ever.

According to Reuters, as of 8:04 a.m. Monday, Korea time, the spot price of gold had risen zero-point-75 percent from the previous session to five-thousand-19-point-85 dollars per ounce, breaking the five-thousand mark.

Gold futures for February delivery also rose zero-84 percent to five-thousand-20-point-60 per ounce.

The safe-haven metal surged about 65 percent last year and has continued to climb in 2026 amid rising geopolitical tensions and a shift away from dollars.
