South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) says North Korea fired an unidentified projectile toward the East Sea on Tuesday.

The JCS said it is analyzing the specifications and range of the projectile. 

The North previously fired multiple ballistic missiles toward the East Sea on January 4. 

If the latest projectile is confirmed to be a ballistic missile, it will mark the second such launch by the reclusive state this year.
