A Korean Canadian man from Edmonton, Alberta, has won a massive lottery jackpot worth 15 million Canadian dollars, or about eleven million U.S. dollars.

According to the Western Canada Lottery Corporation on Tuesday, Lee Tae-seong won the Lotto Max jackpot on October 7, 2025, but belatedly learned he was the winner because he took a while to check his ticket.

When he learned of the win, Lee told his wife first, then his daughter, who both celebrated with him.

Lee said one of the ways he will enjoy his winnings is to travel to South Korea to see his mother, whom he has not been able to visit for a few years.

He said he first plans to pay off his mortgage with the prize money and maybe buy a new truck.

Lee also said he’s always wanted to travel more and do more community and charity work.
