Two tribunals will be established at the Seoul High Court to try former President Yoon Suk Yeol and others on insurrection charges in connection with the December 3, 2024 martial law incident.

The high court convened a meeting of judges on Thursday and designated two criminals departments through a random draw to from tribunals that will be tasked with Yoon's insurrection case.

Last December, the National Assembly approved a bill proposed by the ruling Democratic Party that mandates the launch of dedicated tribunals to try Yoon and others on insurrection charges.

The special bill stipulates procedures for the establishment of two tribunals each at the Seoul Central District Court and the Seoul High Court.

The tribunals will handle Yoon's case after the Seoul Central District Court renders its verdict for Yoon on the insurrection charges on February 19.
