The high pressure originating from China has brought a chill to the Korean peninsula over the weekend with morning lows dropping below 10 degrees Celsius. Mercury plunged to as low as minus 1.3 degrees early Sunday morning in the mountainous region of Daegwanryeong. The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) said high-altitude areas in Gangwon province observed this season's first frost and ice on Saturday morning. The weather service issued a warning against the unusually cold weather in scattered areas and advised citizens to bundle up for weekend outings. Midday highs on Sunday edged up from the day before to range between 18-22 degrees. Temperature is expected to return to normal Monday with lows of 5~13 degrees, as the morning starts off cool warming up during the day. Midday highs are forecast to be around 20~22 degrees Celsius.
