Some of the flour mills and sugar manufacturers embroiled in price-fixing scandals have lowered the cost of their products for consumers.

CJ Cheiljedang on Thursday announced that it will lower the prices of all its business-to-consumer sugar and flour products by up to six percent.

The firm said it was lowering prices to actively take part in government efforts to stabilize inflation and expressed hope that the move will ease consumers' financial burdens ahead of the lunar New Year holiday.

Daehan Flour Mills Corporation dropped prices for some of its products from last Sunday, offering discounts of four-point-six percent on average.

The price cuts come after the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office announced on Monday that it indicted 52 officials from the companies, including senior representatives, for allegedly fixing flour, sugar and electricity prices.
