President Roh Moo-hyun has left for India for a state visit.
During his three-day stay in New Delhi, the president will meet with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and seek ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of information and technology and to expand two-way trade.
After wrapping up his trip in India, Roh will fly to Hanoi on Wednesday and take part in the two-day ASEM meeting. At the biennial summit of Asian and European leaders, he'll ask for the international community's support in seeking a peaceful resolution to North Korea's nuclear issue and establishing peace on the Korean Peninsula.
Addressing foreign concern over Seoul's past nuclear activities, Roh is expected to reiterate Seoul's commitment to nuclear non-proliferation on the Korean Peninsula.
Following the end of the ASEM forum, Roh will meet with Vietnamese leaders for talks on enhancing the country's investment environment for the active advancement of Korean firms into Vietnam. Roh will also stress the need to expand the participation of Korean companies in gas and petroleum development projects in the Southeast Asian nation.
