The cold snap gripping the nation is expected to persist through Monday morning.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, a cold wave advisory remains in effect for the Seoul metropolitan area as well as the Gangwon and Chungcheong Provinces.

Morning lows are forecast to range from minus 16 to minus 4 degrees Celsius, slightly warmer than Sunday's minus 18 to minus 6. Seoul is expected to see a morning low of minus 8.

Conditions are expected to ease later in the day, with afternoon highs climbing to between 2 and 11 degrees, about 7 to 9 degrees warmer than Sunday. Seoul's afternoon high is forecast to reach 5 degrees.
