Exports Jump 44.4% in First 10 Days of February

South Korea’s exports jumped more than 40 percent in the first ten days of February from the same period a year earlier.

Data from the Korea Customs Service released Wednesday showed that exports totaled 21-point-four billion U.S. dollars during the period, up 44-point-four percent from the previous year.

Average daily exports also rose 34-point-eight percent, as the number of working days increased by half a day from a year earlier to seven and a half.

Semiconductor shipments surged 137-point-six percent, while exports of passenger vehicles and ships declined 2.6 percent and 29 percent, respectively.

Exports to China surged 54-point-one percent, and shipments to the United States and Vietnam also grew more than 38 percent each.

Imports increased 21-point-one percent to 20-point-seven billion dollars, resulting in a trade surplus of 600 million dollars.
