A case of African swine fever(ASF) has been confirmed at a pig farm in South Chungcheong Province.

According to the agriculture ministry’s central headquarters responding to the disease on Thursday, the latest case was confirmed at a farm with some 52-hundred pigs in Dangjin.

Authorities dispatched first responders and epidemiologists to the farm and closed the property to people, livestock and vehicles. 

All pigs at the farm will be culled in accordance with the ASF emergency action guidelines.

Authorities are also carrying out disinfection operations on pig farms and nearby roads in Dangjin.

A 24-hour standstill order was also issued for livestock workers and vehicles at pig farms, slaughterhouses and feed factories in Dangjin and neighboring Seosan and Yesan.
