Short Tracker Hwang Dae-heon Wins Silver in Men's 1,500 Meters at 2026 Winter Olympics

Short track speed skater Hwang Dae-heon won the silver medal in the men's 15-hundred meters at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.

Hwang finished in two minutes 12-point-304 seconds to place second in Saturday's final at the Milano Ice Skating Arena in Italy.

The medal is South Korea's fifth of the Games and its second in short track.

Jens van 't Wout of the Netherlands captured gold, while Roberts Kruzbergs of Latvia took bronze.

With the result, Hwang has now medaled at three straight Winter Olympics. He previously earned silver in the 500 meters at the 2018 PyeongChang Games and won gold in the 15-hundred meters along with silver in the five-thousand-meter relay at the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
