South Gyeongsang Province has strengthened quarantine measures after a second case of African swine fever(ASF) was confirmed in Changnyeong County within ten days.

The provincial government said Sunday that ASF was detected at a pig farm in Changnyeong the previous day, prompting authorities to dispatch animal‑quarantine officers to the site and restrict access to the farm.

The latest case marks the second ASF outbreak in Changnyeong this year.

On Feb. 4, another pig farm in the county, located six-point-eight kilometers from the latest site, was also confirmed to have ASF.

An epidemiological team from the central headquarters overseeing the disease response is investigating the route of transmission.

Meanwhile, authorities plan to complete the culling and burial of roughly 19-hundred pigs at the affected farm later in the day.
