The ruling Democratic Party(DP) vowed to become the pillar for recovery of people's livelihood as it marked the Lunar New Year on Tuesday. 

In a briefing, DP floor spokesperson Mun Geum-ju made the pledge, adding that the party feels a heavy sense of responsibility for the people's hardship upon marking the holidays.

He said that to transform the pain and sense of loss felt by the people to hope, the DP, as the ruling camp, is working with the government and the top office to actively address hardships faced by citizens in their daily lives.

Mun then promised the DP's active efforts to shore up the social safety net that sustains the ordinary citizens' lives. 

In particular, Mun stressed the need for bipartisan cooperation in addressing people's livelihood, saying the DP respects the opposition camp as a partner in handling state affairs and will seek to break the deadlock in state affairs through sincere, cooperative governance.
