Gov’t: Two Suspected Terrorists Banned Entry in August

The government says it denied entry into the country in August to two foreigners suspected of being linked to a terrorist organization.

The Justice Ministry said investigators were acting on a tip that two men with Indian nationality and suspected of being terror operatives were trying to enter the nation through Incheon International Airport.

The Ministry said that, after questioning, it could not find any evidence that linked the two men to any terrorist organizations, but nevertheless denied them entry since they were found to have no particular reason to enter South Korea.

The announcement comes as Seoul is working to come up with comprehensive measures to counter possible terrorist attacks, following recent statements from a high-ranking al-Qaida member threatening to stage terrorist strikes against South Korea.
