A working-level delegation from South Korea arrived in the United States on Wednesday to discuss potential investment projects.

The delegation, led by Deputy Minister for Trade Park Jung-sung, is expected to meet with representatives from the U.S. Department of Commerce to discuss project candidates, their commercial feasibility and implementation procedures.

The visit is preparatory groundwork following the South Korean National Assembly’s passage of a bill necessary for Seoul’s investment in the U.S.

If consensus is reached during working-level consultations, the two sides could further detail the proposed investment projects at a ministerial-level meeting.

Earlier this week, Japan announced plans to invest up to 36 billion U.S. dollars in stateside oil, gas and mineral projects, including a natural gas facility in Ohio.
