The National Assembly’s House Steering Committee has voted to move up a plenary session initially scheduled for Thursday to Tuesday.

The committee convened a full session on Monday and approved a motion to make the change to the parliamentary agenda, in the absence of lawmakers from the main opposition People Power Party(PPP).

Ruling Democratic Party(DP) Rep. Cheon Jun-ho explained the change was sought to promptly handle bills amid a delay in tackling bills related to state affairs and economic issues caused by the PPP.

PPP Reps. Yoo Sang-bum and Choi Soo-jin, meanwhile, criticized the DP for pushing for the change to the agenda.

Choi said her party agrees to handling bills on economic issues but that apparently the plenary session date was moved up so the DP could push forward its three bills on judicial reform.
