Consumer sentiment improved for a second straight month in February.

According to the Bank of Korea’s Consumer Tendency Survey, released Tuesday, the composite consumer sentiment index rose one-point-three from January to 112-point-one in February.

A reading above 100 indicates that optimists outnumber pessimists.

The index measuring consumers’ economic outlook for the next six months rose four points to 102, and the index assessing current economic conditions increased five points from the previous month to 95.

Meanwhile, the index reflecting consumers’ expectations for home prices one year ahead, compared with current levels, fell 16 points from a month earlier to 108, the largest decline since July 2022, when home prices began to turn downward amid rising interest rates.
