The United States, which began collecting a global ten percent tariff on Tuesday, is reportedly working to raise it to 15 percent.

A White House official told Reuters on Tuesday that U.S. President Donald Trump has had "no change of heart" regarding his desire to impose a 15 percent tariff under Section 122 of the Trade Act.

The official, however, offered no details on the timing of that increase.

As stipulated in a proclamation signed by Trump last Friday, the temporary ten percent tariff took effect at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday.

On Saturday, a day after announcing the ten percent global tariff, Trump said the rate would rise to 15 percent, but did not specify when.
