House Speaker to Tour South East Asia

National Assembly Speaker Kim Won-ki will be departing Wednesday on a 15-day trip to Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia and Vietnam.

Kim is scheduled to meet with heads-of-states and parliament chiefs of the five countries, all members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Speaker Kim will focus on strengthening diplomatic as well as parliamentary relations with ASEAN countries upon the 15th anniversary of relations with the Southeast Asian regional group.

Kim is also expected to ask for ASEAN's support for Seoul in hosting the fourth International Conference of Asian Political Parties when he meets with the heads of states of the five Southeast Asian countries.

The Speaker will also be meeting business leaders and representatives of Korean companies active in the countries.
