Military officials from South and North Korea are holding working-level talks at the military demarcation line after a three-month hiatus.

The Defense Ministry said Thursday that colonel-level officers of the two sides are discussing details on cross-border travel via inter-Korean rail and road links now under construction. A ministry official said Seoul is also expected to propose the prompt resumption of inter-Korean general-level discussions.

On Monday, North Korea proposed holding the working-level military contact.

The inter-Korean military meeting is the first of its kind to be held since Pyongyang pulled out of a scheduled meeting in July, protesting the South Korean navy's firing of warning shots at an intruding Northern vessel off the west coast.
