Muslim terrorist groups such as Al Qaeda is known to be targeting civilian travelers and leisure establishments as well as military and economic interests, foreign embassies and public transports.
Rep. Choi Seong revealed Sunday a copy of an Al Qaeda Manual, which confirms that terror targets also include civilians and public amenities. This kind of terror attack against the innocent mass is believed to create panic and fear among the general public.
In disclosing the manual to the National Assembly, Choi stressed the urgent need to educate the Korean people on anti-terror guidelines and to draw up comprehensive and systematic measures on the national level.
Regarding the source data, Choi said he found a computer file of the manual from a British police database and the English-language document currently belongs to the U.S. Justice Department.
Amid intelligence suggesting that Al Qaeda is planning to attack the nation along with other U.S. allies, the latest report from an Iraqi source says cash rewards of up to 8,000 dollars are being offered to Iraqi insurgents for the kidnapping of South Koreans.
