The Asia and Europe Meeting has adopted a proposal by South Korea to strengthen cyber security at the 5th round of ASEM forum in Vietnam.

The Ministry of Information and Communication said Tuesday that ASEM countries have responded positively to the proposal, which calls for the establishment of an international network system between Asian and European blocs to tackle cyber attacks.

The ministry said the reason why the nations adopted the issue as the meeting's agenda was because they keenly felt the need to seek joint measures to deal with the serious situation of online crimes worldwide, including cyber hacking and the spread of online viruses.
