A recent poll shows that Korean-Americans in Los Angeles favor U.S. President George W. Bush over Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry for next month's presidential elections.

According to the telephone survey conducted by an L.A.-based Korean language broadcaster, Radio Korea, on 341 Korean-American listeners on Monday, 54 percent of the respondents said they supported Bush while 45 percent said they supported Kerry.

The broadcasting station said the results well reflect the conservative tendencies of the Korean-American community in Los Angeles.

Supporters of Bush said the incumbent president is expected to contribute to establishing peace on the Korean Peninsula with his hard-line foreign policies.

Meanwhile, supporters of Kerry said they expected the Democratic candidate to bring peace to the Korean Peninsula through rational policymaking.
