High-ranking fisheries officials of South Korea, China and Japan will hold a meeting next Monday in Jeju island to discuss ways to protect regional fisheries resources.

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries said on Thursday that during the three-day meeting, the participants will discuss specific ways to cooperate for the sustainable utilization and preservation of fisheries resources in the Northeast maritime region.

Last year, the three nations held summit talks to adopt a joint statement on the preservation of fisheries resources. Since then, South Korea has held follow-up meetings with China in March and with Japan in June.
