The government has selected four major research and development projects as part of efforts to globalize and standardize Oriental medicine.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare said Monday that the four projects include acupuncture treatment using nano particle technologies, a ubiquitous, knowledge-based health management system, finding cures for immune system disorders and prevention and treatment of medicine for diabetes-induced complications in blood vessels.

The Ministry said it plans to provide up to 500 million won to researchers in the respective areas of study over the next three years.
