The Unification Ministry has announced the results of its two-day on-site monitoring on the distribution of Seoul's rice aid to North Korea.

The ministry said Tuesday that the North Korean authorities had distributed the donated rice to needy citizens in a swift and fair manner and that the recipients of the aid were fully aware that the rice was donated by the South.

The ministry said that out of the first 100-thousand ton batch of rice aid, 60 thousand tons delivered to the border city of Gaesong were mostly distributed to citizens in the provinces of Hwanghae and Pyongan. Twenty-five thousand tons of rice delivered to Gosung city on the East Coast was distributed to citizens in the provinces of Gangwon and Hamgyung.
