The International Institute for Strategic Studies says the United States is planning to dispatch a stealth fighter jet squadron to South Korea's Kunsan Air Base.

The British think tank said in its annual report that the U.S. plans to dispatch an F-117 Night Hawk stealth fighter jet unit currently stationed at Holloman Air Base in New Mexico. The report said the U.S. plan is aimed at making up for the military capacity vacuum that would remain after the withdrawal of 25-thousand U.S. troops in South Korea, set to be completed by 2008.

The report also said the move is part of the U.S. Defense Department's plan to invest around 11 billion dollars in reinforcing the military might of U.S. forces stationed on the Korean Peninsula.
