Over the last decade, South and North Korea are found to have implemented an absolute majority of their agreements.
During the period, the two Koreas signed a total of one hundred agreements and implemented two hundred-70 cases of the agreements … some 94 percent of a total of two hundred-90 cases under the agreements.
Opposition Grand National Party lawmaker Chung Moon-hun presented the findings at a parliamentary audit and inspection session of the Unification Ministry on Thursday.
The inter-Korean agreements range from the 1996 agreement on rice provision to the North to the 2003 agreement on the joint entry of the two Korean teams in the opening ceremony of the Athens Olympics.
Rep. Chung said that out of 17 cases that were not realized, Seoul is blamed for the failure of four cases and Pyongyang for that of 13.
Chung added that most inter-Korean agreements so far have been well implemented, contrary to a common notion.
